After its recent £4 million renovation Mockley Manor Care Home in Warwickshire really does have the wow factor, but one thing has not changed. Five minutes into a conversation with anybody connected with Mockley Manor and the word ‘home’ inevitably crops up. And that’s not just home as in care home, it’s home in the sense of the place where we feel most comfortable and secure, as in ‘a home from home’ or ‘home sweet home’.
That positive view is also apparent from the 9.7 average rating for Mockley Manor on carehome.co.uk, the go-to website in the UK for reviews of residential care homes. Most of the reviews are left by the families and loved ones of care home residents. In other words, people who view care homes with great care and a discerning eye.
Here’s what some of the reviewers had to say about Mockley Manor.
“Nothing is too much trouble for the team at Mockley Manor – everyone plays a part in the health and wellbeing of their residents. Mum has complex health/medical and social needs that vary day-to-day. She is monitored closely, and the manager and her team miss nothing. The team also take time to support us as a family. Visits can at times be difficult, having recently experienced one of these our father, who was upset, received empathy and compassion from the staff. The following day we received a photograph of mum, smiling from ear to ear having visited the on-site hairdresser. The smile on Mum’s face was matched by Dad’s when he saw the photo. The kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness residents and their families receive are exemplary.”
“My father-in-law was cared for by the wonderful staff at Mockley Manor for the last three and a half years of his life. The family always found the staff to be professional, caring and compassionate. The care home is clean and welcoming. Management are very approachable and knowledgeable.”
“I personally need to thank the most amazing home manager who has gone above and beyond the duty of any manager for my dad. More importantly, I need to pay my absolute gratitude for one lady who I had the pleasure of speaking to on the phone and literally saved my dad’s life after dad only being in her care for two days. This member of staff is an absolute inspiration to every carer out there. At such a crucial time in a pandemic you single-handed allowed me to raise my concerns that you did not just listen to, you heard. As the hospital will confirm, you saved my dad’s life. There are no words that will ever be enough to be said for this remarkable home. Thank you.”
“My father-in-law was cared for by the wonderful staff at Mockley Manor for the last 3.5 years of his life. The family always found the staff to be professional, caring and compassionate. The care home is clean and welcoming. Due to my father-in-law’s illness, he was bedbound and unable to interact at all towards the end of his life. However, it was apparent to the family the level of affection the staff had for him and how they provided dignified care for him until the day he passed. The staff were very kind and friendly to all of the family and helped us all cope with the final days over the Christmas period. Management are very approachable and knowledgeable.”
“My wife and I toured around many homes and were completely bewildered before we found Mockley Manor, where we found gold. My dad was very resistant to being in a nursing home at that time and was tricky, to say the least. However, the management and staff were wonderful, patient and also so reassuring to us, as we live two hours away. My dad had mobility issues but also age-related health problems which the staff took in their stride. When my dad’s health recently declined further, nothing was too much trouble in nursing him until he passed away. Prior to his death, the staff even arranged a 91st birthday celebration and cake for him. I cannot recommend the home and the staff highly enough. It has been such a comfort to us over the last few months to know that he has been so well cared for.”
