Coate Water Care signs up for government’s Kickstart scheme

Coate Water Care is proud to be an organization that invests time and resources on recruiting the best staff and then encouraging their professional development. Now we can announce that we are taking part in the government’s exciting Kickstart scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year-olds.

Coate Water Care are hoping that by offering these opportunities and placements, they will enable the younger person to experience the vast and varied range of roles that are available in a care setting, which may have been an area they perhaps hadn’t considered before.  In the placement, they will gain training, support and experience in their chosen area.

Teresa Doult (Kickstart Project Manager at Coate Water Care) says: “We have successfully placed several Kickstart applicants within our homes across the regions since the start of this year. Feedback from the homes and the applicants has been very positive and we look forward to seeing these expand and develop over the next few months. We have been successful in our application to extend the scheme and are now able to continue to offer placements until 31st December 2021.

Jamie Smith (Projects & Development Director) says: “At Coate Water Care, we never lose sight of the fact that the ‘care’ in ‘care homes’ is provided by people and we firmly believe that the best way to guarantee the most professional care possible for all our residents and patients is by investing in our ‘human capital’. Without our highly trained and dedicated staff it would be impossible to provide the caring and safe environment that we pride ourselves on.”

“The pandemic is having a considerable impact on the jobs market and young people are being effected disproportionately, so we are delighted to sign up for the Kickstart scheme and hopefully give some willing young people the chance to gain experience in the care sector, which is an expanding sector in the UK.”

“One thing we can guarantee is that they will get some great training from some great professionals in what can be a very fulfilling role.”
